Anyone in a Christmas Mood yet? (mid Nov.)

Christmas Season started the day after Halloween this year.

Now, Christmas movies are on TV, Christmas decorations in stores, Christmas ads running, etc...

All the early Christmas nonsense just puts me in a very foul mood which likely won't go away when Christmas does come since its oversaturation only burns me out. I don't believe the season should start until the day after Thanksgiving.

Anyone in a jolly Christmas mood yet?

reply

When I rule the world, retailers, broadcasters and advertisers will not be permitted even to mention Christmas until December the 1st.

That's still too early for me personally to start feeling festive. The very earliest I'll start getting in the Christmas mood is when I'm off work for Christmas. That's the 15th this year... which is still too early, so it'll probably take a few days... Maybe, I'll allow Christmas songs and films from about the 18th or 19th onwards.

So, to answer your question: no.

reply

Ridiculous comment because it is in fact I who will rule the world.

reply

I dunno. I think the world might struggle to accept a Canadian global dictator.

But I'm British. I've already got the supervillain accent. And historically people expect that kind of crap from us. It'd be 'Oh no, these guys are back?'

We'll see, we'll see...

You'll be the New DR. DOOM

Canada has provided some of the most threatening people in cinematic history: Leslie Nielsen in "The Naked Gun", Rick Moranis in "Ghostbusters", Ellen Page in "Juno", and Michael Cera in everything he's ever done because the dude is an absolute madman.

An evil Canadian in a flannel jacket petting his pet beaver - it could happen.

I agree with the no Christmas stuff until December 1st.

Maybe we can rule the world as a League of Emperors For the Preservation of Christmas.

Of course, I would have first dibs on petting the community beaver.

reply

I'm okay with November 25th because it's an exact month before.

reply

And that's why you won't be co-emperor.

No beaver petting for you.

reply

Not really.. I'd like to see a little snow this Christmas and not be 70 Degrees out

reply

I officially get in the holiday mood when I watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

reply

When the snow will come a fallin’
And won’t be all melted in tha mornin’
Christmas shall be a callin’
White lights shall light the halls and
The trees shall be adorned and
I’ll write a poem about it all man!

reply

November is too early. By the time the actual holiday arrives everyone is so sick of this stuff. I have overheard people in December saying they will be glad when Christmas is over.

It's sad that this special time of year has been ruined by greed, commercialism and materialism. The major retailers, the ad industry and the media are to blame.

Save the holiday season.

reply

In Canada, Thanksgiving is in October, so I really don't think it should start the day after Thanksgiving. 🤣🤣🤣

reply

no. too early.

I’m burnt out on Christmas.
