This seems like it is not a rare cause of death. I’ve seen obits of people in my local news who died this way. I personally know three people who died this way. Besides drowning, the common link was that they all had alcohol and/or prescription drugs in their system (ambien, valium, muscle relaxers).
shareI'm guessing his years of drug and alcohol abuse took a toll on his heart that serious physical exertion would have been bad news.

shareI have a similar hunch, the guy spent years beating himself up pretty badly. It's beginning to seem a day of physical exertion followed by a hot tub dip was too much for his compromised health.
Toxicology usually takes a month or more although the lab might speed up the process for celebrity types.
Maybe not the best decision for him to run around for 2 hours knowing the crap he put in his body for decades.
