What is the point in putting your phone on "airplane mode"?
✈️

a. allows owner to feel like they're flying
b. turns off cellular xmit/receive - no pinging on towers, no tracking
Isn't it obvious? It's for when you're traveling on an airplane, duh! I don't use that mode any other time.
shareIt blocks all incoming calls and text messages while on a cruise ship to avoid a ton of roaming charges.
shareYour cellphone electromagnetic signal can interfere with the plane's instruments.
shareActually it doesn't. just like it can't effect a gas pump.
But travelling on airplane will drain your phone faster as it bounces from tower to tower.
I get the impression you and your cellphone will cause a plane crash one day:

My friend, who is a pilot for Virgin Atlantic tells me that, “it’s bloody annoying when passengers don’t do it, especially on take off and landing.”
shareHelps me not fall into the ground at half the speed of sound
shareI learned that airplane mode saves you a ton of battery, like, really A LOT! I had a 70% charge after a whole day of shooting photos and videos in Mexico.
It's also great to stop people from bugging you.
