🎥 MovieClub Party: Friday/Saturday Features #20 🍿

I have a wedding on Saturday and I doubt I will be able to partake to the event on that night so I picked two movies I already saw. One I loved and was recommended by Ali and one I liked and doubt anyone else has seen. I will share my reviews just to titillate you a bit.

This Movie Party will allow two things to happen:

-people will be able to watch the same movie at the same time and interact here
-people will be able to have common movies to watch over the weekend and share reviews on my other weekly thread.

Event #1: Friday night, Oct. 13 9PM Eastern time (if you want to watch live) and event closes Sunday at 5PM (if you haven’t been able to watch live.)

The first feature is: Hatchet 2
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1270835/

For the night owls:
The God inside my ear (2017)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6921112/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_the%2520god%2520inside

***************************

Event #2: Saturday evening.

First feature: Maximum Overdrive (1986)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091499/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_maximum%2520ov

My review: It has an overkickass AC/DC soundtrack, an overcool beginning with the brigde, an overcute Emilio Estevez, overrad special effects, overbadass trucks, overwicked dialogues (Curtis: we gotta get some gas. Connie: that’s good because I got to go to the ladies room. Curtis: can I come in and watch? Connie: No, you cannot come in and watch! Curtis: Damn.), overintense love affair and finally, overslick direction from Stephen King. This movie is unfortunately the opposite of overrated.

For the night owls: Trick (2019)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9177040/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3

My review: I’m one of Omar Epps day-ones so this review might be bias but it’s October and the Halloween vibe here is great (love the killer’s masks and face paints!). The first 5 minutes are awesome and it keeps a pretty good pace although, unfortunately, the final act gets far fetched and convoluted. Overall: fun and entertaining.

You can now reply with a mention of which event(s) you will partake in for the weekend and also recommend a movie (on Tubi or any other free site) for next weeks.

Have fun!

reply

King must have really loved AC/DC to make the entire soundtrack with them.

reply

GREAT SOUNDTRACK...AND HOW I FOUND THE MOVIE.

reply

Crazy to think that this movie gave us "Hell's Bells" and "Shook me All Night Long."

reply

They were written for the movie???

reply

No actually they weren't now that I think about it, but there were some new songs they wrote specifically for the movie, but not those two.

reply

I do think the movie was brought into more of a cult status because of the soundtrack, like Xanadu was.

reply

WHO MADE WHO?

reply

I thought you were going to get on my case for comparing this movie to Xanadu, you're slacking off.

reply

I HAVE NEVER WATCHED XANADU...I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT HORRORS LIE WITHIN.🙂

reply

This from a guy who says he owns a physical copy of every significant movie? Plus you have a daughter... she would have enjoyed it when she was 8.

reply

GREASE ONLY!

reply

No shame in that. Us guys that like Grease need to stick together, I think we're supposed to call it a 'sissy movie' like macho men but fuck that, Grease is the word!

reply

I'm thinking of renting The Cutting Edge, do you own that one?

reply

ABSOLUTELY...I ADORE THAT MOVIE...MOIRA KELLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH BIGGER STAR...I ALSO OWN T HE LESS THAN THRILLING SEQUEL.

reply

I know you'll say its a bad idea because streaming rights don't last but I bought it....14$

reply

I WILL DIE UNDER A PILE OF PHYSICAL RELEASES...ANYTHING ELSE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME.

reply

I've never had a problem with purchased movies, but purchased tv shows...yes I've been blocked with.... this video is unavailable even though I bought it.

reply

Not really. They were on Black in Black. They did resurface on the Who Made Who soundtrack for the Movie, only Who made Who was written for it.

reply

I think I just loaded my pants - I'm gonna start using that one.

reply

I think this would have played better as a true horror, not comedy/horror.

reply

I like that it's goofy and fun.
The night owl show is straight horror. It has a 'severe' gore/violence rating on IMDB.

Seems like a good balance to me, goofy then gory:)

reply

We've seen a lot of horror/comedies on here, this one's not the best for me.

reply

I sort of agree with Stephen King on this one.

reply

I bailed..I'm going to watch Xanadu until 8 when we start Trick.

reply

Too bad, enjoy.
See you for trick.

reply

🤣

reply

Do you own Orca? I'd love to screen that here, but it never seems to be on Tubi or Netflix.

reply

ON GLORIOUS VHS.

reply

Um, I just got the Who made Who reference. I even bought the album when it came out but never saw the movie up to this point where she says that line. Wow, mind blown.

reply

🙂

reply

Who loaded and cocked the machine gun?
The US Army doesn't just leave those things parked out back fully loaded.

reply

RIP hot waitress :...(

reply

It might not be a good movie, but it's an entertaining one with a killer soundtrack.

I give it a 6.5/10

reply

Fun and silly with great lines and the music is top shelf:)

reply

I rate it 8/10 and love the humour as much as the horror about it.

reply

I WOULD LAND BETWEEN YOU GUYS...ALSO MY RATING FALLS BETWEEN BOTH OF YOURS...7/10...BUT THE MOST FUN YOU CAN POSSIBLY HAVE WITH A SEVEN.

reply

Im back from the wedding, ready for some shredding and I don’t mean skate! I mean bake plus I drank all the beers that I could take! Break a bottle, raise the bar cuz I ain’t t fake!! Wait, im a stoner so I got the buds ain’t gonna smoke no shake!!

reply

I'm joining late as well, but better than never. I wish I could think of something to rhyme that was more clever.

reply

ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE YOU,FRED.💐

reply

What was the wedding meal, chicken or fish:)

reply

HOT POCKETS AND 40S.

reply

What a saucy question. I'm all for it!

reply

Chicken, fish, plantain bananas, rice, lamb…

It was an African wedding, what do you expect!??
