Beautiful autumn day here in Quebec. Just perfect for a night of Horrors!

This Movie Party will allow two things to happen:

reply

He so smooth with the ladies. I’m sure he could teach me a trick or two.

reply

LIKE HOW TO MAKE A SANDWICH DISAPPEAR.

reply

I thought you already knew all the tricks?

reply

He'd teach a master class in how to grow a mustache and walk into places bringing something in a paper bag.

reply

“What’s your name?”

“Smith!”

“Smith, of course.”

reply

"Top-Mask salesman" lol.

reply

Like it was a thing!!

reply

Hey! I was the top Oakley Sunglasses salesman for the Tri-State area when I was in high-school and worked at the mall!!!

reply

Don't laugh. At least one of us here is already on board to buy masks!

reply

🤣 I'm actually thinking about buying a mask for shits n giggles now too.

reply

We should all get matching masks.

reply

I love the Twilight Zone vibe of this but I can see why people expecting a Michael Myers-style slasher would've been let down.

reply

I’m enjoying it for what it is. Lot of fun we are having.

reply

Totally 100%. I think the producers should have just released this one as "Season of the Witch" or something like that.

reply

Or maybe Season of the ‘stach.

reply

One more day to Halloween, Halloween , Halloween! Silver shamrock ☘️ 🎶

reply

This movie pads out a lot of its runtime with that commercial jingle, guys standing on the far side of a frame, and B-roll of characters leaving and arriving to places. A lot of this is carried by the music.

Bravo to John Carpenter and Alan Howarth!

reply

🍀This film is Anti-Irish!!!!🍀

reply

Those dirty Irish and their face-melting masks that explode with bugs and snakes!

reply

SO...AFTER YOU HAVE FUCKED SOMEONE TWICE...IS THAT A GOOD TIME TO ASK HOW OLD THEY ARE?🤔

reply

LOL That's exactly what I said during that scene.

reply

ALI LOVES THIS MOVIE...BUT THIS IS THE YEAR SHE REALIZED TOM ATKINS IS KIND OF AN ASSHOLE WHO WILL MOUNT ANYTHING...SHE IS A BIT PISSY.

reply

That sounds like a good title for a General Discussion troll post! :-)

reply

TICKETS PLEASE...LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

reply

100% sounds like their posts

reply

I know Carpenter didn't direct this one but I wonder how much he was actually involved.

This movie feels very similar to his other film "They Live", and they both have a very outer limits, twilight zone vibe.

reply

I can definitely see the They Live comparisons - Uncovering a conspiracy, infiltrating a high tech corporate compound for a rescue/escape...

For what it's worth Carpenter is an uncredited writer on this - not in the "based on the characters by" sense, so it's possible he did a pass on the script.

reply

WHEN HE DID HIS PASS...HE SAID...THIS MIDDLE AGED GUY WITH THE MUSTACHE...SOMETHING ABOUT HIM IS SUPER COOL AND KIND OF FAMILIAR....I'M GONNA MAKE HIM THE ULTIMATE LADIES MAN.

reply

LOL. Atkins was a Carpenter self-insert. That actually makes sense.

reply

Enlightening

reply

Yeah that's exactly what I was getting at. I think his uncredited rewrite influcenced the film a lot, it's got his prints all over it.
