shareWatch the movie Special with Michael Rapaport - I think someone stole parts of your story.
shareI walked. It was close to my house.
shareI walked or rode a bike, no matter whether it was over 100 outside or a storm had the creeks overflowing. There were no school busses to my neighborhood, and my parents believed in "building character", if it saved themselves any effort.
So now I live in a town where kids walk or bike themselves to school, unescorted if they've over 10-12. Such places still exist in the US, believe it or not.
