Any techies here?

My laptop won't recognise my Internet.

I reset network settings and firewall settings. It says I'm connected to my WiFi but when I try to go anywhere online it says my Internet is blocked. It's fine on my phone and my tvs. Any suggestions?

It's a laptop I bought in the past year so it's not an age related issue.

The only other issue I can see with it is that the date and time are wrong. It says it's the 4th April 2023 and that it's 10:36am (it's actually 11th September 2023, 3:49pm uk time).

I don't use it much so this could be the last time it was used and had battery power but I've no idea tbh.

EDIT

I've reset the router also. When I click a webpage it says it cannot connect to that page's DNS. Troubleshooting says firewall is blocking the connection. I've run a health check and all appears OK πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

**EDIT** I uninstall my vpn and tge Internet was functional again. I've reinstalled it and all OK so far 🀞

Have you got another way of connecting it?

reply

No, I don't have a cable.

It always worked fine before.

reply

Well you could take the laptop to a friend's house and try to connect there and see what happens.

Downloading pirated copies of the complete run of Step By Step has consequences.

reply

I took it to work yesterday and it wouldn't connect. I just thought it was because of their security or something but it won't work at home either.

reply

Maybe the internal modem needs replacing.

If everything else works but it's just the laptop that won't connect to anything then I can't think what else it could be.

reply

It's barely been used though. I've not downloaded anything dodgy to break it .

reply

delete the network on your computer and renter the password and try and reconnect

reply

Yeah I've done that. It did improve as before it said my router was off and afterwards it connected.

I had a similar thing with my laptop a while back. Lasted for a couple of weeks. Everything said I was connected, but as soon as I tried to access a site it came up no network access, although everything still looked okay. Took it to my parents' place (three miles away), it worked fine. Brought it back here, nothing. I contacted my provider (Vodafone, UK). Turned out it was down to network maintenance work (mast replacement/relocation).

reply

Even though its not affecting other devices?

reply

My laptop is the only one on Vodafone, so everything else was fine.

Oh. Mine's all connected to my talktalk router πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
