Sizzler or Ponderosa?
And should I wear a tuxedo, or just an ordinary suit when dining at such fine venues?

shareSizzler is a steak house right? What is Ponderosa?
shareSame, a casual dining steakhouse chain. I've never been to either...I think the only causal steakhouse chain I've ever been to is Outback, which I thought was very good for what it is supposed to be (casual vs fine dining).
shareboth of these left canada i do believe.
shareAren't they both out of business?
shareIn 1989 there were almost 700 Ponderosa locations. By 2003 there were less than 400 locations. By October 2022 only 17 Ponderosa locations remain open, and by November only three Bonanza locations.
Sizzler is in the western USA.

Oh, thank you for the explanation.
By the header I mistakenly thought it's about the old Western series Bonanza.
I want Hop Sing back! β₯
lol I haven't seen them in a long time, so probably.

Bonanza sneaks up and clobbers both of them.
shareI don't think I ever ate at a Sizzlers, but Ponderosa/Bonanza was awesome back in the day (I still have no idea what the difference is between a Ponderosa and Bonanza is). Their steaks were awesome for the price (and "All You Can Eat" at that).
I remember Mickey Mantle did commercials for them (Maybe it was just Bonanza...can't remember if he did any for Ponderosa or not). If it was good enough for The Mick, then it was good enough for me! π
I wondered that myself. According to the Wikipedia entry, they both were founded in the 1960s as separate companies/chains, and eventfully came under the ownership of the same parent company, currently FAT Brands. These once-mighty chains have dwindled down to 5 Bonanza and 16 Ponderosa.

Thank you! I think there was a Ponderosa on the south side of Columbus, but they finally closed a few years back. They were really popular back in the 70s and 80s...even small towns here in Ohio and West Virginia/Kentucky usually had one.
shareI'm going to say "Anything but Sizzler", even though I haven't eaten at one in at least 15 years, and now I'm a vegetarian.
They got famous for selling cheap "steaks", and the "steaks" and "prime rib" were tiny portions, served with limp veg and some starch, and probably the salad bar first so you filled up before you got your 2-3 ounces of beef. The salad bar was the best thing on the menu, and but why would I go to a cheap uncomfortable restaurant for a salad bar.
Tad's was the king of cheap steaks. And king is not a good thing here.
