The Drop (2014)
Sweet Smell of Success (1957)

The Drop is so freaking good. Never saw any promos for it. Just caught it on TV one night.

It's a great slow burner with fantastic performances by Hardy, Gandolfini & Rapace.

"Underrated" and "overrated" are functionally meaningless words. More specific terms include "underappreciated", "overlooked", "overvalued", and movies I wish more/less people would talk about".

reply

Yeah, social media especially has ruined those words.

Underrated, Overrated & Masterpiece have basically become meaningless.

It's ridiculous the amount of films are either overrated or masterpieces.

Daywatch (2006) a moderately competent russian action fantasy film.

reply

I bought it and the sequel. Didn’t care much for it so never got to the sequel yet. Did you see/like it?

reply

Howard the Duck won 4 Razzie awards for bad film making and is usually found on most worst film lists.

reply

It was a childhood favourite of mine.

The Counselor (2013)

The Great Silence (1968) - Popular with Die-Hard Spaghetti Western fans but not well known by mainstream audiences.
The Replacement Killers (1998) - Just an awesome entertaining 90's Action film film that got looked over.

Under rated???? One of the best westerns made and only to be watched in Italian with subs. 10/10

I would also say 3 of Corbucci’s other westerns are 9/10 or above.

Django (1966)
The Mercenary (1968)
Compañeros (1970)

reply

Those are all under rated westerns, IMO. Non-spaghetti western fans don't really know about them.

reply

You’re probably right. Mainstream audiences tend to know most often about Leone’s films from that genre. It’s a pity because I can think of many others that are top tier.
