MC Movie Club ASSEMBLE!

Stoney is going on vacation this week and asked me to start the Friday/Saturday movie thread. I’m starting this early so you all have time to check out these stonekeeper suggestions and make sure you can stream them:

Killers (1996)
Satanic Panic
M.O.M. Mothers Of Monsters
May
Fear Inc.
Torment
Peelers

*I checked and all of these are on TUBI in my region, be sure to check your area, streaming can be a bit random for some reason.

Stoney rated all of these a 6.5 or higher and the dude knows his stuff. Let’s all vote on what to watch for the movie club🤓👍

Also, even though I hate to be bossy it’s come to my attention that our esteemed Dean and Canadian neighbor hownos has never seen Robocop. This is a ridiculous state of affairs and I for one will not live in a world where hownos has not seen Robocop!

I suggest Robocop for the 9pm est Friday night show, you folks pick the rest, we need an 11pm for Friday and a 9pm and 11pm for Saturday. Let’s make stonekeeper proud!

***ETA: May seems like a good pick for the 11pm Friday show if you can all stream it👍

This was my 3rd or 4th time watching Robocop. It holds up really well and is an entertaining, well made film. For me, this is Paul Verhoeven's second best film after Elle. My rating remains an 8/10. I own the Arrow blu ray release which has the theatrical cut and director's cut plus the tv version and tons of special features.

I REMEMBER SEEING BENNY HILL LATE AT NIGHT AS A KID...I THOUGHT IT WAS WEIRD...I SHOWED MY DAUGHTER SOME VHS TAPES WE FOUND...SHE THINKS HE IS A SEX CRIMINAL.🤣

I’m about 10 minutes into May, I have no clue what it’s about but sslssg suggested it and the female lead is super cute so Im all in.

MAY IS A SOLID FLICK...BUT PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR IS A TOUGH GENRE FOR ME...I DID ENJOY THE FLICK THOUGH...AND THE CAST IS TOP NOTCH...ANGELA BETTIS,JEREMY SISTO,ANNA FARIS,JAMES DUVAL.

OFF TOPIC...JAMES DUVAL MUST HAVE HAD SOME DRUG ISSUES OR SOMETHING...SOMEWHERE AROUND 20O5 HE STOPPED MAKING ACTUAL FILMS AND STARTING APPEARING IN 5 TO 6 SHITFESTS A YEAR...HIS ACTING MATCHES THE FILMS HE APPEARS IN TOO...IT'S A WEIRD,SAD DROPOFF.

I’m enjoying May, Angela Bettis is just simply adorable! Yeah, I don’t remember much from Duval.
Anne Faris is pretty good too.

DUVAL WAS RANDY QUAID'S SON IN INDEPENDANCE DAY...TALKS TO HIM FROM THE CONTROL TOWER...IN THAT SAME ERA HE WAS IN SLC PUNK!,GO AND DONNIE DARKO...AS WELL AS MAY...AFTER MAY...HE BEGINS AMASSING 3 TO 6 CREDITS A YEAR...ALL FILMS I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF WITH LOW SCORES AND NO APPEAL.

I think this was my first re-watch of Robocop (1987) since seeing it decades ago. It was an iconic film at the time. I never saw any sequels or the remake. I was surprised by how much I'd forgotten. I only remembered the murder of Murphy, turning him into Robocop, and his partner later recognizing him.

I was reading the IMDB Trivia as I watched the film. The theatrical release reportedly omitted some of the more grisly violence, especially Murphy's murder.

I don't recall seeing Ray Wise in an acting role until he was decades older. I could barely recognize his much younger self.

ROBOCOP II IS A LESSER FILM FILM...BUT IT IS EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING AND A LOT OF PEOPLE'S FAVORITE...IT'S CLOSE FOR ME...BUT I LOVE THE ORIGINAL A LITTLE BIT MORE.

MY MOTHER IS HAVING HER DOG PUT DOWN ON SUNDAY...HE HAS A HUGE TUMOR GROWING OUT OF HIS SIDE AND NOW IT'S BLEEDING...ALI AND I HAVE HAD OUR HANDS FULL...IF ROBOCOP 2 IS ON THE SCHEDULE FOR NEXT WEEK THOUGH...WE WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PARTICIPATE.

Sorry to hear it man, I had to put a good girl doggie down once. Her name was Whitey/White Girl, she was a loving Pit Bull and was rescued off the street near Yankee Stadium. She was a real love!

She had about 10 fine years of lodging, food and a fam to guard so she did swell. It does kick you in the gut when they get terminally ill.
