TV shows that got worse after casting changes.

I don't just mean worse. I mean considerably worse.

Misfits
Being Human (UK)
The Office (US)
Spin City

I havent see the " conners" but i a
Imagine its its pretty bad with out the matriarch. Rosanne was pretty central to the damn comedy and drama of the show

reply

At least you won't hear that annoying laugh in the intro.

reply

I sensed a decline in Cheers when Shelley Long was replaced by Kirstie Alley, I just didn’t care for her character or acting.

I could be in the minority however, they did 270 episodes of that show and Alley was in about half of them, so clearly viewers were ok with her.

reply

Same with Three's Company. People talk about how bad the show was after Chrissy left, and yet it got 4 more seasons with a finale.

reply

Good example of a show that continued to succeed despite a big character change. I seem to recall both changes being over contract disputes.

Man, if I was on one of the most popular shows on TV at the time I’d pipe down and cash those checks!

reply

I FEEL ABOUT DIANE THE SAME AS I FEEL ABOUT CHRISSY SNOW...BORING...I PREFER BOTH SHOWS POST CAST CHANGE.

reply

Two & A Half Men - Ashton Kutcher is simply not funny.

reply

I was waiting for someone to mention this! Not only that, the show got considerably worse after Sheen's firing.

I like Jon Cryer but neither him nor Kutcher could carry the show.

reply

Punchable face too.

reply

I didn't even bother watching a Kutcher ep. They could have brought anyone in, the show was over when Charlie left. You don't just bring in a similar character type.

Cryer and the kid also weren't good enough to hold the show.

reply

I think Ashton Kutcher can be funny in movies. TV not as much, even though he started out in tv. Charlie Sheen was great as the lead, despite, er.... his reputation. The show was destroyed without him.

reply

Charlie Sheen can snort enough cocaine to kill two and a half men!

reply

The X Files. I really like Robert Patrick but Mulder & Scully ARE the show.

Duchovny was a HUGE loss in my opinion.

Sleepy Hollow is another one. I really really like the first 2 seasons or so. Took a huge dive after one of the main actors left.

Lethal Weapon (tv show).. not as good as the movies but I genuinely enjoyed it. Become almost unwatchable after they replaced Martin Riggs with a boring ass character

reply

Whoa, Duchovny left? This is the first time I've heard of this

reply

Haha, Ok. Gonna be honest, no idea if you're being sarcastic or not right now.

reply

I'm being serious. Have you mentioned this before?

reply

Maybe? I think there was a similar-ish post by that Benny guy.

Genuinely can't recall. Dude asks a lotta questions

reply

While on that note, how much money do you have in your bank account?

reply

Currently I have about 30 or so... hey wait a minute, I don't believe in banks.

reply

Allow me to tell you about samoanjoes Investments...

reply

Ya, about that, All my money is currently held up in socks. No, you didn't misread that.

Everyone wouldn't shut up about investing in the sock market. So I did. I thought, hey, everyone wears socks. They're pretty popular. What could possibly go wrong?

Apparently, they were saying stocks, not socks.

reply

But samoanjoes Investments gladly accepts socks but we're sorta iffy on stocks.

reply

Ha, that's good to know. You're gonna need to rent a few...dozen warehouses.

And my accountant will actually track you down. Don't you worry about how...

reply

HE SUED FOX FOR LOST MONEY...SOMETHING ABOUT FOX NOT GETTING ENOUGH FOR THE RIGHTS TO THE SHOW WHICH COST HIM MONEY...HIS CONTRACT WAS UP TO...SO THE SHOW HAD THE ALIENS ABDUCT MULDER...AND BROUGHT THE T-1000 IN...ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF NEW CAST MEMBERS...THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD ALTERNATE CASTS AND KEEP THE SHOW GOING FOR A LONG TIME...MULDER DOES RETURN FOR 12 EPISODES LATER ON.

reply

Big L on Duchovny.

reply

Big L on both sides, honestly..

The show went from getting up to 20m+ viewers an episode to barely even half that after Duchovny's exit was finalised..

A lot of the viewers (me included) tuned in for the cases AND Mulder & Scully.

reply

Last Man Standing primarily with the loss of Molly Ephraim who was a comedy genius as the original middle daughter, Mandy. The replacement of Alexandra Krosney as the oldest daughter Kristin was also short-sighted.

reply

Underrated show. I saw it in its earlier seasons and remember the first daughter being replaced. I didn't care much for her replacement.

reply

Ah, yes. Nothing beats that first season, it's too bad it went in a different direction so soon.

reply

Family Matters. The original mom was changed in the later seasons.

reply

It was the last few episodes only. They also got rid of the youngest daughter.

reply

Is she the one who did porn?

reply

Yes, that's the one. She claims she wasn't invited to the reunion because of that and the guy who played Waldo was the only person to call her in advance and to let her know that he supported her.

reply

when steve rhoades left married with children

reply

I like Ted McGinley though.

reply

They were both funny but Steve was more of a counterbalance to Al’s personality, which made for a good show.

reply

Growing Pains. The producers kept caving into Kirk Cameron's demands because they thought he made the show. The most interesting storyline was the Mike/Julie antics. Then he gets Julie McCullough fired using her Playboy appearance as an excuse, when in fact it was actually to get his girlfriend hired to take her place. From there the show went downhill fast. The lack of onscreen chemistry between Mike & Kate drove fans away. Ironic when you consider they are now married in real life.

reply

Never liked him. He has a holier than thou attitude.
