70s Prog w/ Woman on Vocals

There's so much great stuff, but one thing I can't seem to find (at least nothing more than a few minutes) is a slower-tempo, laid back, jazz chords/notes played patiently on an electric piano, a woman singing vocables. Wonderful.

Probably not what you are looking for but this band came to mind from the late 60's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZudbAQNiYA

This might be what you're after:

I sure hope I didn't mix up the link.

reply

I'll pass, but thanks for allowing me to bump this thread.

reply

That’s nothing at all what he was looking for.

reply

I don't think anyone is looking for that. It finds you.

reply

The only person that comes to mind is Kate Bush, who released two albums in the late 1970s

reply

That's the only one I can think of. She's great and is my favorite younger singer.

Have you checked out the 70s Folk/Prog band Renaissance? They have quite a large discography; there might be something tucked away on one of their earlier albums?

reply

Of course.

Have you listened to Illusion? Jane Relf started with Renaissance, 69-70, and Annie replaced her.. I love high registered vocals, but there's something that is too high or too much about her voice, but I listen to them once in a while.

Keith Relf started Illusion with McCarthy (Yardbirds bandmater) and Jane Relf. But unfortunately, Keith died, but they went on without him. On their third/last album (which wasn't released for over a decade) they had a couple with Keith. I know one was an instrumental, and he does sing on one

(I just noticed their automated YouTube channel has less than 100 subscribers... ouch).

"Madonna Blue" is a great song of theirs. They also have their version of "Face of Yesterday"

I shall check out Illustration’s albums 👍

Illusion* :)

Bloody auto correct 😡

I know you love prog, so I'm curious what you think of this

Nice electric piano.

This almost veers into jazz territory.

reply

Thanks. Played by yours truly. After starting this thread, I thought, "I might as well write what I want to hear myself". Obviously found a singer to sing some vocables over.. and I just copy/pasted her voice a few times

🎹👍

Despite the photo of a dude (guessing he writes the music), you can hear the wonderful vocables starting at 1:48
