Is Barbie a good role model?

I know, none of us care but I saw the headline on the newspaper and as often happens I scrolled right past the story to the readers comments.

The story is from the Australian “The Age” newspaper which is rather leftist and they have even managed to bore their own readers this time.

I also love the “so white” part of the story. Their own racism escapes them.

No fictional character is an appropriate role model. I don't know what you're attempting to accomplish with this topic.

Lol - I was 9 when Barbie came out. The dolls came with little catalogs that showed all of the outfits available and I would save my allowance to buy the newest one. I don't ever recall Barbie being a roll model for me - she was just fun to play with.
Some women take things way too seriously........sigh.

I might go to see the movie - will hold off until I read the reviews - if it pisses off the nut job feminists then I will probably enjoy it.

Yeah she is really going for some Woke hysteria. I only skimmed through the article but it’s pointless. All over a fucking toy.

When I was young enough to take toy choice seriously, none of the suburban feminist housewife moms would buy Barbies for their little girls! The girls and the occasional boy would whine and cry but most of the moms held firm, and would lecture little kids about how Barbie was a terrible materialist role model and any girl who played with Barbies would grow up to be a whore (paraphrase), and brag about holding to their principles at the PTA meetings. It was incredibly silly, but it was taken VERY seriously by these suburban competitive parents.

And BTW, guys, your soldier and astronaut toys weren't "action figures", they're DOLLS!
