Writer’s strike

Is this still going on, and does anyone care? Late night comedy has been on repeats for months, yet no one seems to care. SNL has been off too, and no one cares. Is this the final nail in the coffin of late night comedy and the talk show era?

... Outside of Turner Classic Movies, and NBA TV, I only watch directors/etc I have automatically DVR'd. Never cared about late night - lame as fuck. Predictable. Unoriginal. I thought it died decades ago. If there was great writing, it would seep onto these movie forums, but the best they can do is steal an old idea and sanitize the shit out of it, leaving it completely unoriginal.

I only watch the first couple hosts from "The Tonight Show" thanks to YouTube. Steve Allen and Jack Paar. I've seen enough Carson from TV (selected interview) and he's "Prince Valium" and playing it safe, constantly saying he doesn't wanna take a side. Ed MacMahon is probably still laughing, in case Johnny says something funny in heaven. Carson even got a contract where he wasn't even on the program, but, he had to watch it.
