THE ROCKETEER.

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE.

FREEBIE AND THE BEAN.

THOSE WOULD BE MY THREE MOST WATCHED PERFORMANCES BY MR. ARKIN...NARROWING HIS WORK DOWN TO HIS THREE BEST WOULD BE A TIRESOME EFFORT INVOLVING TWO DOZEN FILMS.

The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter (1968)
The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming (1966)
Indian Summer (1993)

reply

OOOH...INDIAN SUMMER...I LOVE THAT MOVIE.

reply

The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter seems to be a popular one here. I haven't seen it.

reply

It's a little uneven, but Arkin is heartbreaking.

reply

he did a lot of offbeat sort of movies which i never watched

Freebie and the Bean

Catch 22
Glengarry Glen Ross

reply

Catch-22 was one of the most frustrating viewing experiences I've ever had. The version I saw did that audio thing movies do where the sound effects and music are loud but the dialogue is extremely low. It's hard to know if I liked it because of that.

reply

Its an odd film. Had its great moments. Was over-long, tended to drag. The novel was superb.

Going in Style (2017)

reply

I actually saw that. Decent cast.

forgot how funny that movies was sad when the good ones die
