Would anyone be interested?

We'd pick a film, start watching it at the same time, and comment on a thread as the film plays in real-time.

reply

I like the idea. StoneKeeper, myself and some poster from Bulgaria (Mina-something) did this a time or two years ago. It was fun. I’d go for it with you all, but I prefer action, horror and westerns.

Sorry to be a demanding prick, I’m just not going to watch a rom-com or family drama type deal. Cowboys, car chases or slashers and I’m all in👍

reply

Same here. I’m really stuck in certain genres also. It drives my wife crazy because I can’t adjust to new movies like she watches.

reply

Yeah. I hear you.

I find myself watching Hichcok.45, fishing shows or true crime docs on YouTube down in the basement when my wife takes over the good TV.

Jeez. I truly love this woman but she just watches the lamest stuff!
Hospital shows, dumb cop and fireman shows, ‘reality’ shows…
Fucking hell, who did I marry ?!?

But I quite love her anyway, despite her utterly crappy choice of shows.

reply

Where I live I hear gunshots almost every day, but could you imagine if you lived next to Hickok45? You got to hand it to him, that old timer can shoot!

reply

Oh, he sure can shoot!
His boy is pretty handy as well.

I had a Glock 9mm and a Smith .38.
Oddly enough I preferred the .38.
No jamming, no nonsense,
And forget about that Dirty Harry movie line, a .38 will blow up a car windshield and put your man down. It’s a heavy bullet, accurate and hard hitting.

I have four decent shotguns and I love the Mossberg 500
most. It has easily interchangeable barrels depending on if you want to use slug, buck or birdshot.

My favorite rifle is the early 70s ,35 Marlin lever action. It’s a real nail driver! You can put twenty rounds in the bullseye at 100 yards with the factory iron sites with this little lightweight sweetheart.

I enjoy the .22 as well, you can shoot that ammo all day and not break the bank.

“38 will blow up a car windshield and put your man down”

I like .38 special also but I’ve never owned one. I’ve always bought .357 magnums and then ran .38s through them when I want to burn up ammo and save the .357 loads for important stuff.

I know what you mean about Mossberg. There is a reason why for years the military and LEOs have run mossbergs and Remingtons. Personally for hunting, my favorite is an old Browning Auto-5.

reply

I think the.38 is an unfairly maligned round. I’d like to hear some guy that just got hit with a .38 slug tell me it’s an underpowered round.
Baloney! The .38 is a killer.

I’ve never shot a .357, it has quite a reputation as a very effective 6 gun in a bad situation.

I’ve heard the .44 Magnum is a bit overpowered, I saw a guy firing one at the local shooting range a couple times and it seemed a bit of overkill to me.
It looked cool but damn, are you hunting Bison over there?!?

I had a sweet little Colt .32 revolver that was quite light and accurate. I know that the hand cannons are sort of the rage but a small caliber flat shooter is a good pick.
Accurate as hell and no recoil, the .32 should be much more appreciated.

reply

I’ve always been curious about .32 caliber, but I have yet to own or shoot one. I always thought a single action river chambered in that would be interesting.

reply

Best thing was, I made my wife watch those true crime YouTube channels, now she is addicted and we watch them together.

Signed, million man.

reply

I love that true crime stuff. Netflix has some good ones!

reply

LMAO...TRUE CRIME DOCS ARE WOMEN'S SHOWS...AS MUCH AS REALITY SHOWS...AWFUL PROGRAMMING...YA WEIRDOS.

reply

That’s it!
I’m totally stealing your Ford Excursion truck tonight and leaving your shitty CDs all over the driveway ✌️

reply

GOOD LUCK...MY FATHER HAS FALLEN IN LOVE WITH IT...HE PULLS IT IN THE YARD AFTER I GO TO BED AND WATCHES IT OUT HIS WINDOW....HE IS CONVINCED SOME LADY SHOW WATCHING WEIRDO IS GONNA TRY TO MESS WITH IT.🙃

reply

Hey! I watch true crime shows all the time and I take notes on how to commit crimes!!

I’m totally stealing your truck this week… at some point, I’m a bit busy on Tuesday and Wednesday and likely on Thursday as well.

But I’m seriously stealing that truck and a bunch of cats!

reply

No they're not. Twillight is.

Signed, million man.

Family dramas aren't particularly fun to comment on, even when they're good. Some comedies work, but not the really cute ones.

I find action, horror, thrillers and certain types of sci-fi/fantasy work best, as well as a few broader comedies.

Also, the more nostalgic the film the better. Hits and cult favourites are usually the best.

reply

I prefer movies from 1990s-1980s than new movies.

reply

Oh for sure. If I were organising this, I suspect the vast bulk of movies would be from the 80s and 90s (which is my personal fave era for movies, being the era I grew up during).

reply

Interesting idea.

How we will pick the film? a poll?

reply

That's what I was thinking.

Maybe a poll on a theme.

Someone could suggest a topical theme (say, if it was Halloween, then a horror movie, or say if a new Batman movie was coming out, the choice would be one of the older Batman movies etc), offer three choices, and then the rest of us would have an alotted time to choose the film out of those three choices. The theme could be anything, but there would have to be some basis for it, no matter how tenuous.

Sound good. 👍

we tried this when a few years ago. it's worth the try. we would have to use tubi or youtube or some other readily available platform.
