I Want Remakes For These Movies

I know most people hate remakes, but I think they're great, so sue me.

-Jeremiah Johnson
-The Bounty
-Congo
-Apocalypse Now
-Jaws
-Captain Horatio Hornblower
-Eraserhead

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of.

Your 2 yes votes are the ones I would want most. If you've never seen Congo, its a dumb-fun adventure movie based off a Michael Crichton book.

reply

Cool ! Yeah, i haven't. Thanks.

reply

Congo was dope what are you talking about?
Tim Curry all day everyday..!

reply

Oh, I love that movie. I've read that Ernie Hudson thoroughly enjoyed acting in it and would be down for a sequel, which would be just as good as a remake. Either way, I'd be a happy camper.

reply

Why would you want to remake Jaws?

reply

So they could have a bigger boat.

reply

^ lol

🤣

reply

I understand its a much loved classic and a remake would be risky, but it might be interesting set in the current day.

reply

We've had so many Jaws rip offs that a remake just doesn't seem needed to me.

reply

Amen!

A pox on your house!

lol

reply

the bounty has been done enough

reply

never touch a classic like apocalyse now, never.

reply

It could be a loose remake, set during a different war, with the same elements from the Heart of Darkness.

reply

ben hur sucked. the magnificent 7 sucked.

reply

Never seen em'.

Looking up a list of remakes though, I'm surprised how many movies I've enjoyed that aren't actually original.

reply

I would just love them to do a bang-on treatment of the novel itself - not a re-jiggered adaptation.

reply

That would work too. I think there was a TV movie back in 90's, but I've never seen it. With a big budget, it would make a hell of a movie.

reply

I don't think any movie should be remade. It's like repainting the Mona Lisa or The Scream. The reimagining is immediately inferior.

reply

I like risks.

reply

huh?

there are a bunch of remakes that were better than the original

The Thing and The Fly immediately come to mind

reply

Sure, like 10% of them. I just mean they're inferior because the concept has already been done.

reply

John Carpenter's The Thing begs to differ. But that is an outlier.

reply

Have you seen the fanedit:
Jaws - The Sharksploitation?

its amazing. a grindhouse version of jaws
