Have you ever made a child cry? Tell your story ...
I was reminded today of a day last year where I made a child cry.
We had decorated our shop windows for the Queen's Jubilee. The floor of the windows was full of red, white and blue balloons. A lady came in, asking if she could have a balloon for the young child with her (around 5 years old). I said no. The kid started crying. The woman looked at me in disbelief. I informed her that if she goes across the road to Poundland she could buy a pack of balloons for Β£1. She was not impressed.
My colleagues were taking the piss today remembering this but I stand by my decision. If every kid came and asked for one, there would be no display left. The woman was not a customer and I had no reason to accommodate her request.
The main reason I said no is because the window key was up 3 flights of stairs and I couldn't be arsed to go and get it π
