Do you know who this person is without google? PART 2
Bob Wilkins
P.S- no MC searches either.
No
shareSounds familiar. But, I'll say no.
shareIn the SF Bay Area in the 1970's, the man is legendary & iconic😎
shareHe was a god to children in the Bay Area in the late '70s and early '80s. You raced home to watch Captain Cosmic every afternoon after school, then stayed up late on Friday and Saturday nights to watch Creature Features. We all carried our Captain Cosmic decoder card with us at all times. To this day I still remember that 5=A.
shareI had a lot of arguments with my buddies at the time who honestly didn't know that Captain Cosmic & Bob Wilkins were the same person! I seemed to be the only one who knew!
shareReally? It was sooo obvious! We'd sit and yell "Bob Wilkins!" at the TV whenever he had one of the user mail segments where people wrote in guessing his identity. The guesses were so fake, but at the time we really believed no one but us could tell it was him!
shareOMG OMG I grew up with him! He was my Saturday night savior, providing low-budget wonders and catharsis during my difficult childhood!
But look, there's no reason that anyone out of the area would know who he is., and IMHO people whose fame is purely local aren't fair subjects for these threads.
PS: Oh, and if anyone else here is familiar with him, my nerdy friends said he was known to be a complete twerp at local Cons.
Yes, granted that most people, outside of a certain area wouldn't know who he is, I thought the whole point of these threads is to see how many would know BESIDES those of us " in the know" (which may be more than you would think) He had scored some major interviews with several original cast members of Star Trek; also, I think one of the earliest TV appearances from Penn & Teller was on Creature Features.
shareI had thought the point of these threads was to pose enjoyable brain teasers!
At least, that's why I click on them, just so you know what your audience likes.
I met him once, quite late in his life, and he was very humble and pleasant.
shareIf I met him I'd thank him for the memories, and the Godzilla films.
BTW some nerds in Santa Rosa have started a new "Creature Features", it's running now, and they put episodes on youtube for free. They show the right kind of cheesy low-budget horror movies, I've watched a few. More than a few.
Nope😥
