shareMTV in its early days used to have contests to promote bands and album releases. They would have viewers submit entries to win. The winner would typically get to meet the band and get back stage access for one or a few days when the band was touring. MTV would then record a show with the winner meeting and partying with the band.
shareWhen MTV stopped playing videos I stopped watching. I think that's when VH1 became cool. 🤣
