Paddy Pimblett Under A Rain of Interweb Blows

For anyone who pays attention to the MMA/UFC world, what is up with all the hate I'm seeing on the interwebs since the last PP fight ? It was a controversial decision, ok. But why all the hate, any ideas ? Is it because he's a scourser, his bowl cut, his pale skin, his twerking ???

Someone break it down.

reply

I'm not up to date on the latest PP fights. Care to enlighten?

reply

He got a decision on a close fight a lot of people think he lost. That's all I know, as far as some knock on the guy. I'm a fan, so all this piling-onto a talented young fighter is pissing me off. Go to youtube - it's all i'm seening in my feed is shit-talking PP.

reply

PP with shit coming out the front hole?

reply

Nobodies on youtube shit-talking him, evidently some fighters too. He's just a kid. So he's not brown, or slavic or fierce-looking. He cuts the mustard.

reply

PP with yellow discharge?

reply

No idea. It was a close fight but nothing close to a robbery, in my view.

reply

What I don't get is all the personal stuff. He hasn't been around that long, as far as I know he respects his opponents. Something about all this is weird.

reply

Paddy did this on purpose to draw attention. Not a coincidence he randomly started shit with the 2 biggest and most influential MMA journalist/podcaster within a day or two of his fight.

reply

That makes sense. O'Malley pretty much said that, too.

reply

It's what I'm gathering.

I don't really have an opinion either way. I read somewhere that he had a pretty rough upbringing and does a lot to give back to the area he grew up, so he seems decent enough to me.

Controversy sells though. I think he's just using it. He was on Dana White's podcast too. Something tells me he will be the next guy to go the Colby Covington route and start throwing out controversial political statements.

reply

The thing most suspect about him is how he bloats up between matches. He takes a lot of punches too. Another weak point is against the more skilled UFC bouts he's faced - and lost - he gets out-grappled.

He's an interesting guy. I hope he takes training & maintaining himself more seriously, and answers to his promise. Ultimately, you're platform is your relevance in the octagon.

I missed this PPV. Between the 6 birthdays my relatives have late Dec (including my wife's on New Years Eve) I have little time around the season.

I like Paddy. But like all the players who employ bluster and flamboyance, the fans will hate them as hard as they loved them. Just being super popular will garner you hate.

I'll catch the replay in a few days. Did you think he lost?

reply

When you get link to it (UFC 282), please post it. I can only see highlights. I can't form an opinion, they both threw down hard.

reply

I watch espn+ on my tv. I'll catch the replay when I have the time.

Was the fight in the UK? Perhaps some home cooking with the judges?

reply

It was in Vegas. I think Gorden is Americanisch.
