I can't recall if I ever flew on one. I have seen pictures of the upper deck lounges and thought it was the pinnacle of jet-setting, short of the Concorde or private jets.
shareI did once. It was a TWA plane on the NY - Los Angeles route.
shareMy uncle was a pilot for TWA and rose to the top--flying 747s on international routes. He started as a Navy pilot in the 1950s. He is in his 80s now. But I can't say for sure I ever flew on one.
shareCool! My first time on a plane was on a TWA L-1011 from the old terminal at JFK, which was declared a landmark and is now a hotel. I have to get over there and check it out one day.

shareSame here. Recently I was thinking about how I've never been on one. So I started googling and saw they were going to be discontinued. I guess the chances of ever flying on one are really low now.π€·ββοΈ
shareYou'll just have to change careers.

I've seen a couple of stories about the ending of their era. Actually, I thought they were done a few years ago. I never had the opportunity to fly on one. 747s are a plane that I look at and think, "how the heck does something that big stay in the sky?"
shareYou're right, their era has been ending for a while now π. I think previous stories were about the planned end of production; this is about the last one actually rolling off the production line. And it could still be flying 20 years from now. They try to get their money's worth after spending $300 million.
shareThere is a place I passed where they are breaking them down. I think it was the British Airways fleet which were all dumped during Covid - but it is a sad sight.
