The world population is now 8 billion.

November 15, 2022. The United Nations has projected this as the day we reach this milestone. And India could surpass China as the most populous nation in 2023.

And Africa will overtake them by the middle of the century.

reply

That's feasible since Africa contains many countries.

Thanks to Nick Cannon.

The human population, now globally industrialized, has more than tripled in my lifetime.

The notion that our burgeoning impact on the planet is not a cause for environmental concern, particularly in the atmosphere, and the rain-forests - is pretty darn ignorant.

This all happened while we were busy trying to figure out if we were going to blow each other up, teaching the rest of the world how to burn the candle on both ends.

In the Avengers movies, Thanos, with all of his great power, eliminates 50% of the people on a planet. In Earth terms, we'd be at 4 billion which was our count in 1974 - about 50 years ago.

While 50% of people dying would be a great shock, it's not like it's an overpowering tragedy.

If snapping his fingers eliminated 90% or 99%, then that would take quite a while to recover from.

BRINGS UP ANOTHER POINT...POST SNAP IT WOULD ONLY TAKE 30 OR 40 YEARS TO GET RIGHT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE. NOEMOJI

That's the draw of dystopias. Imagining getting about, doing business, surviving in a sparsely-populated and largely lawless world.

One of the great fantasies / thought-experiment scenarios.

With Netflix around, they are now a dime-a-dozen, usually fairly brainless. :)

I liked 'The Bad Batch', though.
