Are there any major examples of movies or TV shows that were meant to be big comeback roles for the stars but ended up being duds or not leading to the actors/actresses becoming famous again?

That movie was a hit that was nominated for and won a slew of awards. And Mickey Rourke has always been famous and still is to this day has been in countless movie since, some blockbusters. 🤔🤔

the ending to the original series (S.9) was bad enough.... but those new ones were trash at best.
