So "poky" means slow or fast?
War is peace, freedom is slavery, and slow is fast.
shareI thought it was "pokey." Oh wait. That's Gumby's pal. ðŸ¤

elections are rigged, politics is war, negotiation is surrender, ...
share"Poky" means "annoyingly slow" according to https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/poky
I assume it comes from the verb "poke," meaning to move slowly, as in "poking along."
But a "poky car" means a nimble, quick to accelerate car.
shareI'm not familiar with that term.
Maybe it refers to "poking" or "prodding" something to make it go faster, as in spurring a horse? The driver "pokes" the car by stepping on the accelerator...?
Yeah, I think it's a British thing. But maybe it actually means slow but used as an expression... you know, like "it's the shit," which means a good stuff, the opposite of shit. Or "what a disgusting technique!" to say a really clever well-thought technique, not disgusting at all.
Idk, some people like to talk like that.
It must be a British expression, because I've never heard it here in the U.S. But then I'm not an auto aficionado because cars are too expensive. I will see a picture of some car on a magazine cover but it won't interest me because any new vehicle is out of my price range.
Maybe one of our U.K. posters can explain it.
