I really don't know how to judge an acting performance, but I suppose that's what makes them great performances, they make it look easy.

To me, Marlon Brando is always Marlon Brando, same with Nicholson, De Niro, DDL, Pacino, (except for Jack and Jill - Pacino's funny!)

I will say two great performances IMO are both from "The Wire" with the one British actor playing the Baltimore cop McNulty, and the other British actor playing the gangster Stringer Bell.

I'll add Bryan Cranston as Walter White because he was NOT Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle, and I've seen him play other characters well in other films.
