Classic rock through modern rock song suggestions

I'm putting together a playlist for my upcoming 17th annual "just the boys" weekend. It involves drinking, sitting by a lake, drinking, some boating and fishing, drinking, and maybe some cornhole. We will also be drinking.
Music makes everything better, IMO, and a good playlist is not to be taken lightly. I'd like recommendations for music that fits this criteria. Not too hard, not too soft. Something that plays in the background that you can jam along to and compliment the chill atmosphere, but never overwhelm it. I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Huh, I've heard Joker and the Thief before, but thought it was the White Stripes. Thanks for the suggestions. Great Theory of a Deadman song.

Love some of the deeper tracks. Yellow Ledbetter is already on the list. We laugh as we make up lyrics, because nobody knows what the hell Eddie is singing most of the time on this song, lol.

I took a lot of time putting this together, but the music makes a big difference. I try to put them in order - I love making playlists for events, for myself, and others. Sounds like a great event. 17 years! I miss going to the lake with friends, bonfires, etc... And since you're going to be drinking, I put all that into consideration. Jam, but not too heavy. Nothing overwhelming. And not just one rhythm, so it doesn't get boring. Nothing too fast or too slow, tempo-wise.

Literally anything by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Just put their back catalogue on shuffle and sit back and relax.

You are the man. CCR is by far my favorite classic rock band. My playlist is heavily loaded with ccr, some solo Fogerty too.

I hope "Effigy" is on there! "Ramble Tamble" has a great jam (outside the bookends)
