Strangest animals on Earth?

Starfish especially with the unique shape. It's a wonderfully geometric design.

Okapi are interesting, they look like a cross between giraffes and zebras:

Caecilians. For some reason the idea of an amphibian snake strikes me as novel.

I nominate the Giant Salps!

Salps are little gelatinous sea creatures something like jellyfish, some times they float around singly, sometimes they attach to each other and form colonial organisms. Sometimes they form little strings, but sometimes they form into enormous tubes, up to 50 feet long!

I don't know if this is the strangest, but it sure makes a run at the ugliest. Naked mole-rat. It's found in the horn of Africa and lives underground.
