Born to be wild

reply

I don't know, but I do know I hate 'Riding Th' Storm Out (Waitin' For Th' Fall Out....)

"Happy Birthday"

Good one but I'm thinking of those lazy film moments where everyone seems to think Born to be wild should be playing in the scene.

White Rabbit in every movie set in the late 60s.

Yeah, it supposedly sets the perfect nostalgic tone for that time.

You beat me to it. I'm a huge Airplane fan but I cringe when I hear White Rabbit out of context of the band playing it.
Too easy to use it as shorthand for everything that's bad for that subculture. But at least the song was very important in helping the band gain financial footing, because w/o the dual hits of Rabbit and Somebody To Love, they would have sunk from view.

Bad to the Bone-- noticed that cliche even when I was a kid.

It felt so out of place in Terminator 2.

The William Tell Overture. (Not a "song" in the true sense, but a musical piece.)

reply

Pachelbel's Canon in D and/or Carl Orff's Street Song.
