As an ardent fan of the character Sherlock Holmes, I recently decided to draw four actors as him who, in my opinion, portrayed him the best. (I called this endeavor of mine “The Case of the Four Best Sherlocks,” haha.) I just finished the last one and have uploaded them all to Flickr. Check them out and let me know what you think!

Also, to give you all an idea of what’s coming, here are some characters and celebrities I have lined up to draw: The Mandalorian with Grogu (this one’s next), actress Danai Gurira, actress Vera Farmiga, Tom Branson from Downton Abbey, Fox Mulder from The X Files, Walter White from Breaking Bad, Regina Mills from Once Upon A Time, Xena: Warrior Princess, Captain James Kirk from Star Trek: The Original Series, Darth Vader from Star Wars, Sister Jude from American Horror Story: Asylum, actor Vincent Price, actor Vincent d’Onofrio, actress Kate Winslet, and Dottie Hinson from A League of Their Own. :)

I am VERY GLAD that you selected both Basil Rathbone and Johnny Lee Miller as models for your excellent Holmes portraitures. Rathbone was my quintessential Holmes when I was a little boy. The problem was that Dr. Watson was not the bumbling ass that those movies made him. The Downey/Ritchie Holmes films are beneath contempt. I see you eschewed them. Bravo. Elementary, 1 of CBS (first known as The Tiffany Network before you drew your first breath) is the most faithful Holmes adaptation I have seen, albeit transposed to today. Holmes is a recovering cocaine addict, a seed planted in Conan-Doyle’s stories. Watson is a hired Sober Companion, a mechanism
to help him use his genius—and also to enflame hers!

This is was a great show, and I’m abbreviating this comment. I grieve that I can’t find it online.

You have done yoeman work, and beyond.

Not for nothing, but until the advent of the Harry Potter books, Sherlock Holmes was the most populate literary character ever. Now he is down to 5th, behind Harry, Hermione, et. al. Call me in 50 years and tell me where Harry fucking Potter ranks relative to
Sherlock Holmes.

People love Holmes for the way his mind works, not for how his wand works.
