Can tablets replace laptops?

I’d say yes only for people who use office as their main program or App or for people who want a laptop for entretainment ( web browsing, watching movies YouTube and social media).

But for people with serious work not yet , I think we are on the way to it though.
the thing is there are two type of tablets.

Type A focused on productivity meaning students and work and those tend to be highly expensive and add the keyboard even more expensive.
Tablets in that spectrum: iPad Pro, IPad Air, Samsung tab S series surface Pro 8.

But for the prices you get all these tablets better go with a laptop with full software and your keyboard is included.

And B the tablets for entertainment: the Amazon kindle fire tabs, iPad 9 Samsung tab A8 and Surface go.

So really the Pro tablets in features indicate we are on our way to replace laptops but the prices tell us to wait. There will be a day when even the non expensive tablets will be very capable for work.

But how do you feel guys ?

reply

Yeah, sure, they're probably already doing it.

Maybe I am old school, but I am curious what would make people choose a tablet over a laptop?

reply

Well, I think a tablet is much easier to use while lying down in your bed.

Typing on a tablet is horrible though. I dont even like typing on my phone. If I want to lay in bed while using the laptop, I just put a pillow on my waist and set the laptop on top and Bob's your uncle.

reply

As I learned how to type on a tablet rather quickly, I don't really need a traditional keyboard anymore.
It is much less noisy to type on a tablet as well, so I'm happy about that too.

But if you prefer a laptop, that is great for you.
But I'm really thankful that someone invented the tablet, which is perfect for my needs.

reply

Good for you, Furienna.
I got a new laptop to work remotely that has a touch screen display. On the vendor website, they claim a touch screen lets users interact with the device more easily and intuitively. I am curious about what you do on your tablet. Maybe your experience could help me figure out how to make use of my touch screen.

reply

Mostly, I'm on the internet.
But I keep telling myself that I have to finish my novels as well.

reply

i think the tablet was suppose to replace the laptop. it hasn't happened.

Anything serious needs to be done on a desktop or laptop. Remote work from home, premium games, creating software and websites, photography and other artwork, multitasking, watching DVDs, saving large files and documents, printing, etc..

Tablets are good for most lightweight activities. Not an "either or" choice for me. I use both depending on my needs.
