Are there any great films about virtual reality?

Any examples? Films that deeply touch on the topic?

"Ready Player One". Also, it's been a while since I live seen it but I believe "Strange Days" uses going into people's memories as a plotline.

I loved the soundtrack too. I still have both the Skunk Anansie, and the Deep Forest with Peter Gabriel songs on regular rotation on my playlists.

Is that the one where they had memories on a gold tape that they played on a reel-to-reel player?

reply

No, it was like a spider web thing they put on their heads, and you could fully experience it.

Okay, got it. Thanks for the reply.

Total Recall (1990) involves implanted memories. Or are you looking for films where characters physically step into artificially-created worlds?

reply

Where characters enter a simulation.

Surrogates (2009).

reply

Not really virtual.

reply

Headsets, avatars - VR right?

reply

But they're only controlling robots in real life, nothing virtual. Like driving a car or piloting a drone remotely.

reply

I guess our definitions of VR are different.

reply

VR is Virtual Reality, it's when you control an avatar inside the game / software.

People in Surrogates are controlling physical robots in real life.

reply

I guess our definitions of VR are different.

reply

You can say that again
