who REALLY wants war?

let's face it: in the long ago past, war was about taking over lands. we've come a very long way from that... not communicating with weirdo people who look different from us, and dominating their lands... to a globally communicating AND TRADING world. I'm in america, and within seconds can be chatting with a stranger on the other side of the planet, that speaks a different language.. .and I do that sometimes for the fun of it.

yet, those people are almost exactly like me: just want to live, be happy, do a job, get paid, have my own little space... I don't want to kill strangers in foreign lands over things I know nothing about, and neither do they. from discussions I've had with Russians, Chinese, Japanese....

So, who REALLY wants war to continue?
Only the governments. In my perspective. Governments setup with insane budgets like 750 BILLION per year - that is going to keep war machine industries open, and all those workers and soldiers paid "to protect" while they wait.

Is war, and its supporting patriotic brainwashing, just another billion dollar business now, inbuilt requirement of modern economic structure,or is there some actual need outside paying factories and soldiers to stand by?

WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

reply

oops. I'm sorry. I suppose this is actually a political type discussion, but not in my head should it be.

Was really hoping to get REAL PEOPLE's feedback, not just politicized peoples. If anything, the entire concept was designed for non political thinking. WHY are we still warring?
this post will prolly get deleted. that stinks

I consider it a social issue, but I guess if people carefully avoid using political terms, maybe we can get some good points of view, especially from those who have had to live in a country where bombs are falling in your town.

Decisions are made by a couple of people. Their kids aren't the ones dying for the warfare state. I suspect some go along with it because they assume their middle-class possessions are as a result of killing each other.

Just think how far we could progress if countries cooperated... But I think it's too late. Powerful people place more emphasis on "phony markets" over human beings. 50 years ago, we saw more footage on TV, but they know the public can't criticize what they don't see.

reply

exactly right here.

I feel we are being TOLD other countries are bad - yet when I talk with PEOPLE other there, I find out they are teh same as me: like music, chilling out, don't want to hurt others... yet their narative growing up is ALSO "Dislike this other country (my country) because THIS or THAT" but it is not a reason for me to want to kill him, or him kill me... it's just overhead noise from the ruling parties TELLING US how evil the other country is.

I'm already protesting the next one.

No reason to fall for any lies from "intelligence" agencies who have lied over and over.

You can't spend 800 billion in one year, and NOT use those weapons, so we hear bullshit excuses to justify.... whatever.

The one positive about the previous administration is that because no new wars were started, the fans of the previous administration have suddenly become anti-war, so it's a good thing.

Murder is not a way of life... No one had a grudge against the Vietnamese in the 60s, either. They went because they were told. But because there's no draft anymore, there really is no anti-war movement, especially if the guy declaring it is supposed to be a great guy.

World war 1 had 2 major banker brothers financing one side each.
