I'll just go ahead and say it.....

"Moments of silence" achieve absolutely nothing (other than shutting up the occasional idiot, for a minute or two).

Sometimes, that's all you need.

Lol!!

there's always one guy who shouts or screams.

Many things in life achieve absolutely nothing.

reply

Well, truthfully it's all futile, innit?

reply

Sad but true. Let's have a moment of silence...

An awful murder happened here in England that's all over the news this week. A 6 year old was murdered by his step mother with his father an accomplice. After they were sentenced there was a gathering of folk who held a two minutes silence for little Arthur and laid flowers and let off balloons. All lovely for his memory but ...

...All I could think whilst watching this on the news was, where the hell where all of you whilst this little boy was being tortured to death. It's too late for contemplation now when nobody did anything at the time.

If folk actually cared and had paid attention to what was going on he would have been saved.

Yes, that was absolutely heartbreaking. News stories, however tragic, don't normally get to me as such - but that one did.

reply

I disagree. Look up the "One Minute of Silence" the city of Warsaw, Poland holds every year.

reply

I agree with your disagreement. 🙃

But seriously, silence has an under-appreciated power.
