I'm a guy who has always like comedy, but I have to say that MP usually didn't tickle my funny bone, though the holy grail and life of brian did have some great bits. A lot of their stuff, though, seemed like a reach.
that doesn't do it for me.
reminds me of the new wave of "comedy" that wants to exist by simply being weird. nothing laughable to me, just do weird things.
delivery was very amateur here to me. i didn't laugh, smirk or even smile once.
yeah. i like absurdist humor. which isn't that removed from monty python. their schtick is, in part, parodying schlocky 80-era commercials, and gross-out stuff. the amateurishness is intentional.
is that what is known as absurdist? serious question, I really don't know. I totally get how people love it though, and I am not knocking it at all. :) Everyone has things they like.
another style that is not for me (yet I am not against it in any way) is comedians who just F Bomb non-stop, louder or softer, just saying it so much, doesn't not make it a JOKE to me. sometimes it fits fine, but just swearing a lot doesn't have a build up and delivery for me.
I like Bill Burr... he swears a lot, but not non-stop like the last Chris Rock I saw. He's just an example. I like Chris Rock too sometimes, but too much swearing feels like lazy filler.
I did understand the amateur delivery part - like those crappy almost home made advertisements with a $4.99 budget, but the content wasn't funny enough to me. still, I get it. We're all different. :)
