Anybody have any bad concert crowd experiences?

Reading about the Astroworld festival disaster made me remember some of the harrowing moments from many trips to concert venues.

The only time I feared serious injury at a concert was when I went to a converted movie theater with a capacity of about 500 people for an EMO concert and a wall of death formed. The singer announced that it was time for the wall of death and I was against the wall. People were clearing out the floor and people were pushing against me. I then witnessed two lines of people running towards each other. After most everybody quit, two 250 pounders were knocking a 140 pounder to the ground so I'm glad I never participated in that nightmare.

Another annoying experience was when a guy who moved into the seat behind me was pumping his fist in a downward motion and he grazed me a couple times BUT he hit my head the third time. I turned around after that and tried to tell him that he was hitting me. The guy moved up five or six rows and he kept pumping his fist.

I got a free lawn ticket to Ozzfest one year and vowed to never get lawn seats again for a metal show after witnessing multiple fights between angry drunks.

Other than a concert being cancelled last minute, nothing really.

Bad seats, that’s about it. Madonna was the worst, it was at the Sydney Cricket Ground and I went with a group who were all excited because it was her first time touring Australia. The tickets were about $100 which was expensive back in 92 and we ended up in the stands at the back of the stadium so she looked like an ant on stage from where we were. We ended up watching the screens and there was a couple of seconds delay by the time the sound reached us so it was pretty lame. Good show but just generally an average concert experience because of our seats.

I saw Aerosmith ages ago, it was raining at Jones Beach Arena, there was mist, drizzle and it was chilly as hell

Beers were 10 bucks a pop and
they patted you down before you came in for your small dime bag of weed like you were entering Attica

The crowd was very cold and chilly, the band was late and that cold rain killed the mood

Steven Tyler yelled at us to show some spirit, a lot of us attendees shouted 'Go Fuck Yourself'

I dislike huge public events

Everyone at events just seems like a
shithead, maybe
I'm the lunatic but I can't do this expensive crowd stuff anymore, I like my concert garage

Rainstorms can be rough. I was at a local concert series that was held in a field and this deluge broke out. The show was stopped and people were running for cover. I tried running back to my car but there was only five feet of visibility. I eventually found my car but I couldn't barely see anything. A lot of big shows are on youtube.

DITTO...THE PEOPLE WHO GO TO CORWDED EVENTS SEEM TO BE FROM A DIFFERENT PLANET THAN I AM.

The only big concert I went to was a Paul McCartney concert in a sold out football stadium. It went very smoothly. Half the people there were old enough to have watched the Beatles when they first on American TV, so that might have helped.

-Some drunk a-hole has to show he knows the lyrics to every song by singing them, very loudly and very badly.
-The guy who can whistle super-loud. If you are near it can hurt your ears.

The only scary incident was at a general admission Grateful Dead concert in the early 1980s. From the start people were trying to get close (I already was, having arrived early). At some point it got really bad, not to the point of injury but I could lift my feet up and not touch the floor because it was so tight. Then we started to sway back and forth. That was scary. I barreled my way out like a football player. I ended up in a perfectly fine spot not far at all from the stage.

I would think any Grateful Dead concert would be scary. 😊😊

This is my first time hearing about a "wall of death"

I had never heard of the wall of death either. The one in the video looked rougher but there was plenty of space to run away. I was stuck against the wall with a bunch of people cramming up against me.

Nothing serious. I saw Guns n' Roses in Melbourne, Australia in 1988. They were late to stage, sounded messy. The Aussie support band blew them away. It was my second major concert so it was a disappointment but nothing serious either.

1993 G'n'R staged the worst concert ever, I wasn't there thankfully but saw the news footage. People were not happy.

WERE COOL,ATREYU KICKED MAJOR ASS,I DON'T REMEMBER WHO ELSE PLAYED EXCEPT KORN,BEERS WERE 11 BUCKS,IT WAS CROWDED AS ALL HELL...AND THEN IT BEGAN...KORN WERE SLIGHTLY LATE...THEY SOUNDED TERRIBLE...AND PEOPLE BEGAN LIGHTING FIRES...EVERYWHERE...TRASH CAN FIRES...DEBRI FIRES...TREE FIRES...THEN THE NON FIRE LOVING CROWD MEMBERS STARTING GETTING ALL SCREAMY AND SHOVING TRYING TO MOVE AWAY OR FLEA...IT GOT REAL SPOOKY REAL FAST...THEY PAUSED THE SHITTY SOUNDING MUPPET MUSIC AND MANAGED TO CALM THE SITUATION...BUT FOR A GOOD 10 MINUTES...WE WERE LOOKING FOR AN EXIT STRATEGY AND FREAKING OUT.

I had decided that lawn seats for a metal show could be risky. Atreyu, Korn and Hellyeah had a few angry songs so they might attract some rowdy folks. The Evanescence fans were probably mostly laid back since the band's music is more mellow and inspirational.
