Petition To Remove The “Politics” Section

I understand that this under-funded site needs traffic, but at what cost? If you agree that the toxicity of Politics posters bleeds into the rest of MOVIEChat, sign up and let’s purge this cesspool.

As much as I can’t stand politics, I think having a board specifically for politics is a good idea. Get rid of the Politics board and it would just infest the whole site.

Man let's not start this shit. If people want to be mean to each other. Let them be and just ignore it. We dont need another repeat of IMDB....

I have participated in some heated exchanges with posters. I forget about it and move on...

Everyone is adults here. We all know what we sign up for when we join sites....

Next, you'll be burning books.

Leave the politics section alone, Just don't go there. Simple.

If someone posts on the page of ANY political figure, their page will show up in "Trending."

The board has made no effort to keep those pages strictly in the political area.

That's just the way it is.....

The fault is as much on the board as it is on the individual posters.

Why do some people feel the need to "run" things?

reply

Please no. Removing it will not make those users go away, but they will instead take their vitriol to the other boards including this one. Mind you, at present there are still plenty of accounts on this forum that try to steer conversations towards hot-button topics, though the site terms at least confine them to tiptoeing around their agendas using dog whistle language instead of out-and-out baseless contrarianism and hate speech.

Let the dumpster fire continue to burn and keep staying away from it.

I vote we keep the political section:

Political stuff will always get discussed, and given how divisive and toxic political discussions can be having its own section keeps it away from General Discussion whilst still allowing freedom of discussion.

As far as toxic posters appearing elsewhere on the forums, that’s just part in the parcel of a free internet forum and why we have moderators policing.

I see Biden or Trump’s faces showing up in trending quite a lot, as I do a lot of movies and TV shows I don’t give a shit about: there easy to deal with though, just ignore them and find something else I’d rather discuss or whatever.

I have no problem with there being a politics board as I never go there. However, I am all for removing politicians and historical figures in the trending section.

No Moviechat needs to expand not contract. I wish there was an active Religion Board here as well as the Politics Board.

This is how Moviechat used to look in 2017:
https://web.archive.org/web/20170222212840/http://www.moviechat.org/

I'd love it to retain that look and have the old boards like music, I need to know and games used again, rather than have everything be clogged up in General Chat.
