Calling All Coffee Lovers

What do you all use to brew your own cup? My Keurig is on its last legs and needs to be replaced. I've had it for almost a decade, so I'm curious if there are any competitors on the market or do they still rein king in the single-serving department? The only alternative that comes to mind is Nespresso, but are the pods widely available and as cheap? I definitely don't need a drip machine since I only have 1 cup, two at the most, daily.

I HAVE CONSUMED ONE SINGLE CUP OF COFFEE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE...TO IMPRESS MY FATHER IN LAW...HE BOUGHT IT FOR ME...I HATED EVERY SINGLE SWALLOW.

reply

I prefer it over sugar laden Cherry Coke.

Coffee is the elixir of the gods!

I like it with a splash of milk and half a packet of stevia.

SUGAR LADEN CHERRY COKE IS THE VIAGRA OF THE GODS!...DRINK RESPONSIBLY.🥤

reply

Cheers to that!

reply

I don't drink coffee, either. It tastes horrible.

I use this https://primulaproducts.com/collections/hot-coffee/products/madison-1-cup-ceramic-pour-over-coffee-dripper

It's real inexpensive and makes an excellent cup of coffee. Plus I am not dependent on pods (I do have to buy filters, but they are not expensive).

reply

Definitely an interesting and innovative product, but its not what I'm looking for.

reply

That's my method. I use the pour over method with whole bean coffee that I grind in my thirty-year-old Krups mini grinder. I avoid k-cups since the plastic is horrible for the environment and the plastic from the k-cups leaches into the coffee.

reply

I use a Melita, it's basically the same thing just made out of plastic. Find the variety of bean you like best and grind your own. Caution: this method will make a coffee snob out of you.

reply

Not an instant pod machine but I use a Fracino Cherub:

Now THAT, is a quality piece of machinery, but a little outta my price range.

reply

Manual brew. It's the best. It's not that hard when you get the hang of it. It would still consume more time though so it depends on your priorities.

Me myself, I don't care. If I can spend 1 or 2 hours for a bad movie I surely can spend a few more minutes brewing my coffee to enjoy the best coffee just the way I like it.

But Nespresso is fine too. Best is subjective anyway.

reply

instant. I mean really instant. granules in a jar , add hot water and milk & sugar.

reply

Since I am banished from the room of the cooking and the cleaning, I have asked the missus to table this one. She reliably informs me that we have something called a Nespresso Sage Creatista (whatever that is), which takes pod thingies (sorry if my terminology is incorrect, but I'm afraid this is all beyond me).

reply

folger's 100% columbian works fine for me. i tend to milder brews, and traditional tastes.

reply

I use a Chefman which is probably a cheap off-brand of Keurig. Been using it for almost a year and haven't had any issues. It has its own reusable filter cartridge that you pour regular coffee grounds or pods into.
