Have you ever watched a movie that was on IMDB but had no reviews?

I did that for the first time, earlier this year.

Oddly it had about 600 or 800-so votes. But no reviews. It was a Danish film.

Anybody else? If it was your friend's film obscure film or something... I guess you could tell us.

Or otherwise, what's a movie you've seen that had a really low number of votes.

Yes, I have:

American Orpheus (1992) 8 votes, no reviews.
Virtual Love (1993) 9 votes, no reviews
Saving Borshia (2015) 11 votes, no reviews
Sophie's Place (1986) 30 votes, no reviews
Empty Suitcases (1980) 43 votes, no reviews (I wrote a review after watching it, so it has my 1 review now)

You really like your movies. I usually only stick to what is available on DVD, with a few exceptions that I downloaded.

reply

Yes, I love movies. I subscribe to 6 different streaming services and also buy movies on blu ray or dvd.

reply

are these all paid ones?

reply

Yes, Apple tv+, Criterion Channel, Disney+, Netflix, Prime, and Shudder.

reply

i have three right now - netflix/prime and crave.

i don't log on imdb anymore, & haven't for years, but there have been a few films i've logged on letterboxd that had not reviews & only a handful of ratings. i'm at a loss to remember any titles, & i don't know if there's any way i can sort my watched list to find them, but i know there were a handful. most of them were no-budget tubi-tv horror, things like that.

reply

You can sort the films you watched on Letterboxd by popularity and find them that way.

reply

ah, of course. how silly of me not to have thought of that.

i'd be lost without you!

this is made a bit difficult for me because i've watched a ton of short films this year, and quite a few of them had very little activity on lb, so it's a little tough for me to tease out the actual full length features.

but here are some;

thirty proof coil (2011) - not am i the only person to review this on lb, i'm one of only two people to rate it. i only gave it a 2/5

caged (2018) this is a bit of a cheat, cuz it looks like someone's reviewed this since i watched it. but this i really liked quite a bit. it's a fun, twisty little thriller that i've actually watched twice, and might very well watch again. it's on tubitv.

risky business: a look inside america's adult film industry. watched that purely for research purposes, of course. 2/5

reply

Yes, often. I watch a lot of silent films and the lesser known ones often don't have reviews.

Most recently:

Pałac (1980) - 20 votes, no reviews.
Femina (1991) - 74 votes, no reviews.
Pasáž (1997) - 59 votes, no reviews.
El extraño caso del doctor Fausto (1969) - 48 votes, no reviews.
Pandemonium (1987) - 101 votes, no reviews.

reply

It's harder to find people who watch american movies with no reviews than non-English movies.
Somehow all the movies I rated with less than 1000 votes have at least one review even the TV movies.

reply

Yes, quite a few 'quota quickies' from the 30s.

reply

Yes. Smallish new films I catch in art house cinemas and oldish British films I find on YouTube - happens fairly often.
