Favorite tv villains, a thread...

There some villains that are so amazing that they even improve the show. You might even like them more than the main character. They might be evil, cruel & even unredeemable but you actually miss them when they get written/killed off. Because they make the show more interesting & entertaining

Here are some of my favorites

1. Ben Linus (Lost)

2. Joffrey (GoT)

3. Boyd Crowder (Justified)

4. Killgrave (Jessica Jones)

5. Ramsay Bolton (GoT)

6. Heisenberg (Breaking Bad)

7. Wilson Fisk (Daredevil)

8. Trinity Killer (Dexter)

9. Sylar (Heroes Season 1)

10. The Reverse Flash (The Flash season 1)

11. Cersei Lannister (GoT)

Stringer Bell (The Wire)

reply

I really Gotta watch The Wire. Especially since I already have HBO Max

It's been sitting on my watchlist for years...

reply

It's a great show. I lose interest pretty quickly with these sagas, but Wire and Breaking Bad I was addicted. Hated Game of Thrones. Sopranos 50/50.

reply

Stringer is a good one👍

I wont say The Wire is better than Breaking Bad but it sure hooks you immediately whereas BB took it's time

Each season is a different beast

Enjoy dude

A lot of my favorites you already said

I would add

Scorpius (Farscape)
Angelus, Spike & Drusilla (Buffy & Angel)
The Mayor (Buffy)
Robert Quarles (Justified)
Wynn Duffy (Justified)
Carl Elias (Person of Interest)
Alex Krycek (The X-Files)

Definitely agree with a lot of yours, especially Lex from Smallville (Would include daddy Luthor, Lionel as well)

Here are the ones I like that I can recall:

Regina (Once Upon A Time)

Nogitsune/Void Styles (Teen Wolf)

Harry (Resident Alien)

Villanelle (Killing Eve)

Prince Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Joe (You)

Katherine Pierce (The Vampire Diaries)

The Kid (Castle Rock)

Phyllis Schlafly (Mrs. America)

Tony Soprano (The Sopranos)

reply

I completely agree on Regina. Not only is she one of my favorite villains, but also one of my all-time favorite TV characters.

reply

Lana Parilla is mesmerizing. I'm enjoying in season 2 of Why Women Kill and she's essentially playing Regina 2.0 but without magical powers. I'm not complaining.

reply

Man, I can't believe I left out Lionel Luthor. He was so freaking amazing in the show.

John Glover & Michael Rosenbaum made the show more interesting. After their departure, it just wasn't the same. The quality started to dip.

reply

Couldn't agree more. If at least Lex had stayed, I think the show would've survived, but with both gone, there were really no stakes imo.

reply

Dr Zachary Smith from 'Lost in Space' provided a much needed antidote to the sweet wholesomeness of the Robinson family with his treachery and sour disposition.

Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri from 'The Sopranos' could be very funny at times.

Admiral Helena Cain from Battlestar Galactica was utterly ruthless and remorseless but she was a real lead by example type and tough as nails. A great war time commander but no doubt guilty of war crimes.

A BIG yes for Lorne Malvo!

It's ALMOST impossible to make a great show or movie without a GREAT villain.
It happens but it's rare.

Great topic, BTW.

reply

True
A great thriller requires a great bad guy or it's all sort of a dud

reply

Unless it’s a comedy, or drama, or war film, sure….
