Ever been to Dubai?

I'm generally not a fan of Islamic countries but I would make Dubai, UAE an exception. Seems like a rich and fascinating place. I really want to check out the Burj Khalifa. Ever been?

They're currently building the Creek Tower which will even be bigger than the Burj. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVTkDp-qR8s. How are they so flippant rich to design these buildings?!

Yes, several times - the last being December 2020.

As a kid around 1991, I was 4 years old, we did a quick stopover at the Dubai airport and I got a toy escavator, lol. :)

Never. I've said before that people like me aren't safe in the Middle East and I never want to go there, but Dubai isn't just potentially unsafe, it seems to be the sort of capitalist dystopia that would give me the creeps.

I've never been but something about it strikes me as the kind of place where the novelty would wear off quickly. Its whole Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous-aesthetic is very 1980s to me.

I can see your point off about the novelty bit. But then again, you can say that about any vacation destination really.

I remember you asking the same question about Qatar. My answer is the same so I will cut and paste it:
No. First of all, I don't travel. And if I did, I would never go to someplace where the temperature is in the 40°C range. [Dubai] is too hot and too dry.

But they have air conditioner.

What if the AC breaks down? No thanks. I prefer staying in an area that at least has four seasons. Although climate change is beginning to mess things up around here. The warmer weather from the southern latitudes is slowly creeping northward. Not a good thing.
