First Thing You Think Of....
With these decades for movies?
1930s - populism
1940s - heroism
1950s - rebellion
1960s - independence
1970s - gritty, natural, and a combination of previous decades

Not for movies just in general...
30s...Dust bowl, Great Depression?
40s...Nazis
50s...Men ruling the world
60s... People thinking they can actually change the world.
70s...Disco
What about just movies?
shareThese are really hard for me..I think the 70s is probably where I started watching movies.
30s...Charlie Chaplin?
40s...Gone with the Wind
50s...Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
60s...Planet of the Apes
70s..The greatest dark movies of all time, that I don't want to watch.
If you look at the box office, each decade is much more spread out than most people think.

And the past isn't all that much different from the present, as fantasy has always packed them in. They talk about the "gritty, natural" of the 70s, but you can't talk about that decade without bringing up the birth of the blockbusters -- like Star Wars and Jaws.
share1960's independence "Lolita"
share1950's rebellion "West Side Story" the Officer Krumpky song (1950's Broadway)
