Do you all still use IMDb, or have you moved on to an alternate site in protest

Topic.

Good lord. At first I thought you were a troll.

IMDB is worthless now. It's full of ads. It's slow to load. The message boards are gone forever.

It ruined the Internet.

Amazon sucks and it's CEO actually eats living bugs from the dirt on a toothpick.

What a guy! What a company!

boxofficemojo is also ruined.

I hate the Internet.

reply

Amazon hates free speech, it's time to shut down Amazon.

reply

Use Brave and that takes care of the ads.

But you're right about Amazon. Fuck Amazon. I just canceled my Prime subscription the other day and then spent $150 on books at another retailer when I could've gotten them from Amazon for $117. I will not support them anymore.

reply

Yes I still use IMDb.
I’m not in the habit of protesting.

reply

Yes. I vote for every movie I see.

I use it once in a while, not as often as I used to.

I thought site came about as the alternate to IMdb after the message boards shut down.

It's a poor substitute, but the real problems that plague the Internet and social media is the endless supply of idiots, and easily it is for programmers, both domestic and foreign to program fake idiots to make the whole thing completely broken and useless.

I still use imdb.

I still use it, but I think I'm going to stop contributing to it. I've been submitting goofs, trivia, et cetera for ten years. As far as I know, not one thing I've submitted has been found to be incorrect. A few years ago, it had got to the point where my submissions usually were approved in minutes, even though the submission page would say that it might take a couple of days. I assumed that my account had been tagged as "proven trustworthy" or something similar, and that other similar users had been tagged the same way.

Now? Half the time, when I submit something, it's rejected with an idiotic "unable to verify" explanation for the rejection, requesting that I provide an explanation to help them process the submission -- when I already did that when I submitted the item in the first place!

Furthermore, it seems to be very inconsistent. I'll submit one item and it's accepted readily. The next day, when I submit a similar item, it's rejected. I think it just depends on what employee happens to process the submission.

Whatever else happens, I'm not going to take screencaps, provide web links, et cetera to support the items I give them. They're not paying me. Either they trust their users or they don't; they should make up their minds one way or the other.

And, on their new discussion forums, another user brought up this issue, asking about the "unable to verify" message he was constantly getting. I replied and said, "I can't answer your question but I want you to know that it's not just you, the same thing is happening to me and I'd also like an answer." An IMDB moderator promptly jumped all over me, saying that if I couldn't answer the OP's question I should stay out of it and STFU.

To hell with IMDB. They're not getting any more data from me.
