Final Destination (2000) vs The Ring (2002)

which is better?

reply

the ring is better, i suppose. certainly has a better look & style, more effective scares, & a better actor in watts than anyone in the fd series.

that said, i think the final destination films are lots of fun, & i'd happily watch any one of them at any given moment.

reply

Completely agree. If I was in the mood for being creeper out I'd pick the ring. If I just wanted to pass some time it'd be FD 👍

Final D

i thought you would like the darker one.

I'll try to make some sense of it.
I dont dig modern horror. It's just not my genre. Thrillers, true crime, oh yeah - I love that. Fascinating. Gore and supernatural elements are just not my thing.
It started with TWA Flight 800. The plane full of students that blew up over the south coast of Long Island in 1996. A big mystery.
That's why I became interested in the first Final Destination. And I was hooked. It's not horror, it's something else. They're provocative. They make you question the nature of reality. Free will, determinism, intelligent design, etc. They're also hella fun! The creative and bazaar nature of the deaths. I was hooked, and am a big fan of the series.

you have watched them all?

reply

Lol. Yes, many times. I own them all. And they're all good. It's funny because you seem surprised.

reply

i have watched three of them. i didn't think you were a sequel person.

reply

Final Destination.

The Japanese version is better than the US version, though.

reply

Final Destination for me but I do like The Ring. Naomi Watts is great

BOTH ARE GOOD...I WOULD RATHER REWATCH FINAL DESTINATION THOUGH.

reply

That's my reasoning behind it. Rewatch value.

The Ring hasn't left my mind since I first saw it in the theater nearly twenty years ago. Final Destination is very clever, but it doesn't have the mythology powers of The Ring...She never sleeps.
