Am I right that there's no way to subscribe to threads/boards now...

I mean to 'watch' a thread or board, so that I get notifications if it has been posted on by anybody else, even when it's not a reply to a post of mine.

You can only get notifications to people who are responding to you. Any post you make whether you started the thread or not should give you a notification.

i believe that's correct. if there's a way to do that, i haven't seen it.

If someone doesn't have an account all they need to do is click on "reply" on the bottom left corner of any post. It should direct them to the "Sign-Up" page.
