Really? The highest-grossing movie of 1991 and winner of 4 Oscars. It's been a while, but I remember it as a good movie. not a franchise killer.

I don't get it, either. This was such an iconic film that became permanently ingrained in the pop culture. Plus it led to four sequels:
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
Terminator Salvation (2009)
Terminator Genisys (2015)
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

The first three were judged to be commercial successes.

I don't mean that it was bad, I love the movie. What I mean is, that because T2 was so good, everything that was to come after was going to be utter drivel and would not compare. In my mind, the franchise stopped there.
