Linesmen removed from Aus Open Tennis. Good move?
Replaced with computers with 99.9% accuracy.
No more players challenging calls, which was an interesting element and gave some drama.

Terrible move. Who's Serena going to say she's gonna shove her ball down the lineman's throat to now? That was such a classic moment.
shareBe interesting to see who the first player is to go for that .1%.
shareWe should have all seen this coming. The tech for tennis line calls looks so definitive they could have done it years ago.
T
he MLB strike zone should be next, although that's much more up for debate.
That said, I'm generally not for tech replacing people in everyday situations. People need to have jobs.
I'm all for the pitch tracker if it speeds up the game. They could also make the hitters stay in the gd batter's box, and put a timer on the pitchers!
sharebig tennis fan here. i'm mostly for it. i agree that the human element made for some interesting drama and immortal blow-ups & shameful behavior.
but ultimately i think things work best when you know things are correct, and i'd rather have a computer getting it right than some person & their inferior primate brain making a hash out of calls.
