How come it's so quiet here lately?
Each day on GD only seems to have about one page( if that), instead of two or three like it used to.
Where's everyone gone?
All message boards go through ebbs and flows of traffic. They lose old regulars, get new ones, and always always collect trolls of varying dedication and patience. Any board that gets big enough to actually effectively harbor free speech is deemed "too big" etc and shut down. If a board owner's beliefs are opposite of a dominating trend in discussion then what motivation have they to sponsor such a speech outlet? Skip ahead to comment sections everywhere being shut down. Free speech only allowed where free speech valued.
