Movie Recommendations For Me

I'm in desperate need of a great movie.. Every day I tell myself, "Watch a movie you haven't seen".. On the few occasions I have the will to watch, I see mostly duds.

I watch most of the movies I can from the 1930-70s, but I'm not looking for classics. I don't like "camp".. Most of what I watch is drama, dialogue driven - don't need action, or sci-fi.. Acting of course is important.

Here are the movies I've rated.. You can hit CTRL-F to quickly see if I've seen a certain movie or not

https://www.imdb.com/user/ur1182593/ratings?ref_=nv_usr_rt_4

Thanks - and feel free to ask me for recommendations!

Don't know if you've seen these. I can't memorize your list but:

Z (1969)
Le samourai (1967)
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane (1962)
Diabolique (1955)
12 Angry Men (1957)

reply

I've seen all of those. But thanks!

The Naked Island (1960)
Born to Kill (1947)
One Foot in Heaven (1941)

reply

All That Heaven Allows (1955)
Very entertaining in a very weird way.
And Johnny Guitar. Same as above but completely different.
But if OP has more modern films in mind, I'm not sure I can help.
Will have to think on it, but not my wheelhouse.

The New Mutants (2020)
Charlie's Angels (2019)

reply

It could be as early as late February

reply

Yeah, I know.
However, I couldn't wait that long as I just purchased The Cincinnati Kid and Straw Dogs, both on Blu-ray.
I also learned that Z is not available on DVD or Blu-ray. At least from Amazon, that is.

The party 1968?

Night of the hunter 1955?

reply

I liked "Night of the Hunter", saw it years ago.. It was on TV a few days ago, and I told my mom to see it.

reply

Il Mare (2000)
Frailty

reply

Frailty was a big surprise and a somewhat forgotten beauty of a film

I only watched it because the cast was awesome but this was a total winner of a movie

reply

I never heard of the film until a friend recommended it. It's a great psychological thriller. Completely underrated.

the color wheel 2011 - it reminds me a little bit of buffalo 66 in the way it finds humor in portraying unlikable, even detestable people. i feel like you might get a bit of a kick out of it.
