Why do people assume everything a doctor says is gospel?

I’ve had multiple docs be wrong and downright negligent now. It’s insanely frustrating because people always just assume what they say is right. Unfortunately, despite all of their grueling training, this is not always the case. I learned this the hard way and it was only after my situation didn’t improve that I had to take my care into my own hands, do some research and seek out a specialist who could give me the proper care.

They don't.

Maybe it’s because I come from a medical family and my dad is a pretty well respected doc I had that misconception but in a lot of the forums and fb groups for my injuries they all seem to put a lot of stock in what docs say, many going as far as to say they stick with the first doc and never question anything. Idiotic.

reply

Have you ever told your dad this?

reply

I guess you've never heard of people seeking a second, or third opinion?

reply

I have but it still seems like a lot of people put way too much stock in what they say.

reply

Maybe stop concerning yourself with what others say and do whats best for you.

reply

Now, you see right there is your mistake - you’re being far too sensible, lol.

reply

It’s only gospel if your doctor’s name is Matthew, Mark, Luke or John.

😝

I APPLAUD YOUR CHOICE TO TRANSITION...IM A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT YOU PERFORMING IT YOURSELF.🤔

reply

I only think it's gospel if he's an evangelist.

reply

My experiences with doctors have been mixed.
